W. Michael Long | Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Essence Group Holdings Corporation and Lumeris Corporation
An entrepreneur in health care, financial services and energy, Mike has led teams that built Continuum, a multi-billion dollar global leader in insurance software; Healtheon/WebMD, the largest consumer health information and transaction clearinghouse (chronicled in Michael Lewis’ best-seller, The New, New Thing); and NEOS, a solutions-oriented geosciences company that is leading the field in multi-measurement interpretation (of geo-datasets) and imaging of the earth’s subsurface. Today Mike is leading Essence Healthcare and Lumeris. Essence operates health care’s most effective virtual integrated delivery network (vIDN) for accountable care. Lumeris delivers technologies, methodologies and learnings to hospitals, payers and physicians committed to delivering high-quality, low-cost and high-satisfaction accountable health care services. Essence/Lumeris’ purpose is to slow the growth of health care’s $2.6 trillion in expenses while simultaneously improving clinical outcomes and patient satisfaction.
Mike and his wife, Betty, are equestrians and their three children are rapidly progressing their entrepreneurial careers in food distribution, energy and health care.
Richard Jones | President and CEO, Essence Healthcare
Richard Jones serves as President and CEO of Essence Healthcare, one of the nation’s first accountable delivery systems. Mr. Jones is an experienced health care business executive and certified public accountant. He previously served as Chief Financial Officer of Essence Healthcare, Chief Financial Officer and Division President of Coventry Health Care, and Division President of United Health Group. Immediately prior to joining the EGHC family of companies, he was an entrepreneur, investor, and health care business consultant.
Frank Ingari | President and CEO, NaviNet
Frank Ingari is an established leader with more than 30 years of experience as an entrepreneur and senior information technology executive. Before joining NaviNet, he was President of the Medicare Advantage health plan Essence Healthcare. He previously served as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Shiva Corporation, Vice President and General Manager of the spreadsheet division at Lotus Development Corporation, and as Senior Vice President at Atex, Inc., a division of Kodak. He was also founder and Chairman of Wheelhouse Corporation, an early application service provider in the customer relationship market.
Deborah Zimmerman, M.D. | Chief Medical Officer, Lumeris and Essence Healthcare
Debbie Zimmerman, MD, has a long and distinguished history of medical leadership at health plans such as CIGNA, Group Health Plan and Health Partners of the Midwest. Before joining Essence Healthcare, she most recently served as chief medical officer of Mercy Health Plans, a provider-sponsored plan owned by Sisters of Mercy. She is also an accomplished entrepreneur, having co-founded a successful disease and complex case management firm. Dr. Zimmerman practiced internal medicine for 15 years, and is licensed to practice in Missouri and Illinois. In her current role for Lumeris, she is responsible for clinical content in the Lumeris Accountable Delivery System Platform, as well as supporting clients’ clinical initiatives. In her current role for the health plan, she is responsible for clinical quality, medical and pharmacy management, and physician practice transformation.
Debra Gribble | Executive Vice President, Lumeris and Essence Healthcare
Debra Gribble has an extensive background in the development and successful management of Medicare managed care organizations. Most recently, Ms. Gribble spent the past 12 years building and improving operations as co-founder for Essence Healthcare and executive vice president for Lumeris where she counsels clients on MAPD operations and the fundamentals of the Collaborative Payer® Model. From 1995 to 2001, she served as vice president of Coventry Corporation St. Louis, responsible for the company’s government businesses and administrative service organization, and was a member of its board of directors. From 1985 to 1995, she was director of Medicare operations at United Healthcare. Earlier in her career, she practiced intensive care nursing and served as head nurse of the cardiac catheterization unit at nationally acclaimed SSM Healthcare. In her current role, Ms. Gribble’s responsibilities include sales and business development at Lumeris and shared executive oversight of the Essence Healthcare business division.
David Corrigan | Director, Informatics, Lumeris
David Corrigan is a health care economist and analytics consultant. He has more than 15 years of experience in the managed care industry, using data, analytics, and incentives to influence physician behavior in ways that improve clinical and financial outcomes. This work includes the design of accountable delivery tools and applications for health plans and provider organizations, with an emphasis on systems implementation, contract modeling, and strategic physician integration.
John Khoury | Director, Clinical Decision Support, Essence Healthcare
John Khoury brings to Essence Healthcare more than 15 years serving in multiple clinical and business roles at Missouri Baptist Medical Center, part of the BJC HealthCare system. He was Pharmacist in Charge of Missouri Baptist Medical Center at Sunset Hills and was responsible for the Cancer Center, Operating Room, and IV Room pharmacies. He also is a Lean Six Sigma Yellow belt with experience running more than 30 kaizen events throughout BJC HealthCare and as a freelance consultant. As Director of Clinical Decision Support, Dr. Khoury is responsible for clinical content across the company’s lines of business and is a product development owner for Lumeris.
Doug Berkson | Vice President, Strategy and Consulting Services, Lumeris
Doug Berkson is an experienced health care executive and consultant, with more than 20 years in the policy sector, managed care, consulting, and disease management. Before joining Lumeris, he founded and ran Berkson LLC, a health care strategy, data, and analytics firm that assisted health care stakeholders with payment and delivery system reform. He previously held positions at organizations including Health Dialog and Pfizer Health Solutions.
John B. Tyler | Vice President for Implementation Services, Lumeris
John Tyler brings more than 23 years of information technology knowledge to Lumeris — including software and solution development, systems implementation, and customer support — with experience in financial services and other markets. He previously lead and developed organizations for global systems integrators and start-up corporations, including CSC and Vignette. In his role as Vice President of Implementation Services, Mr. Tyler is responsible for successful deployment of accountable delivery service solutions, as well as account management services.
Keith Blankenship | Vice President, Technical Solutions, Lumeris
Keith Blankenship is a consummate software development and technology executive, with more than 24 years of development and engineering experience. In his role at Lumeris, he is responsible for the development of various technology solutions that improve health care coordination, collaboration, and overall accountability. Prior to joining Lumeris, Mr. Blankenship was Director of Application Development at Coventry Health Care, and held various management positions at Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Missouri.
Steve Bethke | Vice President, Product Management, Lumeris
Steve Bethke joins Lumeris with 20 years of experience delivering technology solutions. This includes a decade in health care, working with stakeholders across the continuum of care. In his current role as Vice President of Product Management at Lumeris, he is responsible for setting and delivering the company’s roadmap for clients.
Subbarao Siddabattula | Chief Technology Officer, Lumeris
Subbarao Siddabattula brings to Lumeris more than 20 years of experience in the computer software industry, including complete lifecycle development of products ranging from enterprise applications to state-of-the-art health care systems. Immediately before joining Lumeris, he was Founder, President, and General Manager of India Operations for Physician Advantage, Inc., which later became part of Lumeris. Mr. Siddabattula has also held various senior management positions in technology and product management at companies including Hewlett Packard, Blue Star Infotech, Rockwell Automation, LoginClinic, and Purkinje.
Sam Gallant | Vice President, Production Services, Lumeris
Sam Gallant is an experienced information technology professional, with more than 15 years in health care. For much of his career, he has specialized in the delivery of SaaS-based health care applications. In his role as Vice President of Production Services, he is responsible for security and the company’s Accountable Delivery System Platform cloud infrastructure. He previously held various executive management positions, including Chief Technology Officer of Physicians Advantage and Vice President of Information Technology at Purkinje. Mr. Gallant also served in various management positions at Express Scripts, a large pharmacy benefit manager.
Gail Halterman | Vice President and General Counsel, Lumeris
Gail Halterman is a seasoned legal professional with demonstrated expertise in health care regulatory and compliance issues. She joined Lumeris after a distinguished career in the health care group at Lathrop & Gage, LLP, a full-service national law firm. In her role as General Counsel, Ms. Halterman is responsible for legal strategy and operations, helping ensure the company’s proactive adherence with the spirit and letter of all applicable laws and regulations.
Tom Doerr, M.D. | Director of Innovation Research, Lumeris
Tom Doerr, MD is a primary care physician practicing geriatric medicine in St. Louis, and the vice president of clinical strategy for an IPA. He is a co-founder of Lumeris and the company’s director of innovation research. In addition, Dr. Doerr serves on the board of directors for Essence Healthcare, and is a faculty member of the Accountable Delivery System Institute (ADSI).
Jim Hansen | Vice President, Health Policy, Lumeris
Jim Hansen is an accomplished health industry executive with more than 20 years of experience in organizational leadership, strategy consulting, process improvement, system development, implementation, and operations for health care delivery, health plans, and employer purchasing. Before joining Lumeris, Mr. Hansen led key national policy initiatives to support value-based purchasing/outcomes and health delivery system transformation in his role as Vice President at Dossia Consortium, an employer-sponsored entity. Previously, he served as CEO at CareEntrust and Vice President at IDC Health Industry Insights, as well as holding key roles within First Consulting Group (now CSC), United Healthcare/Optum and HealthPartners Health System. In his current role, Mr. Hansen leads Health Policy for Lumeris and provides consulting services to clients.
Carol Murdock | Chief of Marketing, Lumeris
Carol Murdock joins Lumeris with 25 years of experience in strategic marketing, management and business development in health care. In her current role, Ms. Murdock is responsible for Lumeris’ go-to-market strategy and leads the Accountable Delivery System Institute (ADSI), the premier resource for health systems, payers and provider groups seeking proven solutions and practical guidance on their journey to value-based care. She most recently worked at HealthTech Holdings, where she served as Chief Marketing Officer for its three companies, Healthcare Management Systems, Sentry Healthcare, and MEDHOST. Earlier in her career, Ms. Murdock founded, ran and later sold Coactive Systems Corporation, a health care technology and services company focused on nurse triage and disease management for payers and hospital systems. She has also held executive positions at Healthways, a population health and wellbeing company, and at three large hospital systems: OrNda Healthcorp, Summit Health and National Medical Enterprises.
